Design process for magazine cover

Start

I originally went with the blue background because it contrasted with the warm colors of the text, I changed my mind because it didn't fit with the Jamaican color theme (black, green, yellow, red) I was aiming for.

A picture of the dish was cut out from one of the photos I took because there were no vertical photos taken for the cover, so I improvised.

I placed the price in a red puff because it contrasted the blue background, drawing the viewer's attention to it. That applies to the rest of the text, but unlike the blue, the rest of the colors fit the theme I was looking for.

I organized the text size into a matter of importance, the bigger the text, the more important it is. I made the headline (Savor the Flavor) the biggest because it communicates what this issue of the magazine will be about.

I changed the background to green because it fit the color theme and serves the job of having a cool color background to contrast and bring out the warm color text. I added more cover lines to fill empty space and sell the magazine to viewers. A barcode was also added but it later gave problems so I swapped it out for another.

Finish
Finally, I added various effects to the text and pictures to make it look less flat.
